The Regional Human Rights Commission (CRDH) of the Draa-Tafilalet region, in partnership with the Association de lutte contre le Sida (ALCS) in Morocco and in coordination with the Public Prosecution Office at the Court of Appeal in Errachidia, Morocco, and the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, will organize a workshop titled "HIV/AIDS and Human Rights: People Living with the Virus and Key Populations at Risk of Infection", on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 9:00 am in Errachidia.
This event aligns with the implementation of the mandate of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) to protect and promote human rights. It is also in line with the implementation of the National Plan for HIV/AIDS and Human Rights, developed by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, CNDH, and other civil and institutional stakeholders engaged in combating HIV/AIDS and hepatitis.
The workshop is designed for decision-makers and key influencers. It aims to strengthen their capacities on the legal and regulatory obstacles that hinder access to prevention and treatment services for persons living with HIV, propose alternative solutions, and combat stigma and discrimination affecting these populations.
The workshop will bring together several stakeholders, including representatives from government and non-government sectors, judges, lawyers, doctors, nurses, university academics and researchers, representatives of the judicial police, civil society organizations (including ALCS) human rights defenders, experts, elected officials, and media professionals.
