Ms. Amina Bouayach, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), officially assumed her mandate as President of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) on Thursday, March 13, 2025.

In addition to holding bilateral meetings with several National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) from Africa, Europe, the Americas, and the Asia-Pacific region, as well as with heads of regional networks, Ms. Bouayach met with Mr. Jürg Lauber, President of the UN Human Rights Council. She also met with senior officials from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and heads and members of GANHRI’s structural committees, including the Sub-Committee on Accreditation (SCA).

During these meetings and discussions, Mrs. Bouayach emphasized the importance of collaboration and complementarity in the work of NHRIs, GANHRI, and UN partners to ensure the effective protection of rights and freedoms at national, regional, and global levels.

This complementarity, she stated, is essential and necessary in the face of crises and conflicts threatening rights and freedoms worldwide. "Cooperation, partnership, and complementarity are essential for strengthening prevention, protection, and promotion—now more than ever.”
