On Friday 30 September 2022, the training session organized by the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) and the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) for officials in charge of places of deprivation of liberty held its closing ceremony.
The Rabat - Driss Benzekri Institute for Human Rights hosted this event from 26 to30 September 2022.
In her statement, Mrs. Amina Bouayach, CNDH Chairperson, welcomed the importance of the partnership agreement between the two institutions that became widely known at national and international levels.
Mrs. Bouayach announced that the CNDH/NPM is invited to participate in a European Forum for NPM, at the beginning of October 2022, to present the CNDH experience. Besides, she declared that the CNDH is always ready to provide consulting for law enforcement officials to improve the human rights situation in Morocco.
The CNDH Chairperson also welcomed the positive interaction of the DGSN with the NPM recommendations and observations since 2020 aiming to improve working conditions in places of deprivation of liberty.
About twenty police officers representing different regions of Morocco shared insights at this training session. They mainly focused on: Human rights, principles and practices; Rights of persons placed in custody; Monitoring, Prevention and Remedy, etc.
