Following the request of the Executive Bureau of the Moroccan Forum for Truth and Equity, Ms. Amina Bouayach, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) chaired a meeting with members of this Executive Bureau and members of the Follow-up Committee to deliberate on the recommendations of the Moroccan Truth Commission (IER).
Held on 13 March 2019 at CNDH's headquarters in Rabat, Morocco, this meeting was an opportunity to address measures taken to declare the end of the Follow-up Committee’s work and to publish its report. Stakeholders also focused on: the fate of unresolved files relating to victims of disappearance, the regularization of the administrative situations and the retirement of some victims integrated into public jobs. Other files such as victims of “Ahermoumou”, applications that missed the deadline and health coverage for victims were also discussed at this meeting.
Within this frame, CNDH Chairperson clarified her decision to continue the work of the Follow-up Committee on the implementation of the recommendations of the IER.
Moreover, Ms. Bouayach informed the representatives of the Moroccan Forum for Truth and Equity that the main content of the Commission’s report will be discussed and taken up with them before publication.
To strengthen this work, CNDH Chairperson pointed out that the Follow-up Committee had begun the process of interacting with families of victims of disappearance through a series of meetings.
Ms. Bouayach also accentuated that CNDH is committed to continuing its meetings with the Prime Minister: to activate the implementation of the remaining recommendations of the IER, to accelerate the implementation of the decisions of the IER, and to find solutions for victims who missed the deadlines, especially those who are in difficult situations.
