Outcome of extensive national actions/contributions and strong international advocacy to ensure the effectiveness of human rights
The General Assembly (GA) of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), chaired by Ms. Amina Bouayach, held its 11th Regular Session in person and remotely, on June 16 and 17 in Tanger, Morocco, in accordance with the requirements of Law No. 76-15 related to the CNDH reorganization and its Rules of Procedures.
At the opening session, Ms. Amina Bouayach highlighted the CNDH momentum aiming to raise the current challenges related to protecting and promoting human rights in Morocco.
She also shed light on the CNDH initiatives and actions conducted between the two sessions at the national, regional and international levels as part of a continuous process aiming to strengthen the human rights protection system and promote its culture.
On this occasion, the GA began the proceedings of this session by deliberating and interacting on the achievements of the CNDH 12 Regional Commissions, the three national mechanisms, and the five Standing Committees, since the 10th session held on 24 February 2023.
Within the same context, the GA welcomed the regularity of the publication of the CNDH Annual Reports on the human rights situation in Morocco since 2019, its national partnerships to enhance the protection of human rights, and its re-accreditation with “A” status as an independent national human rights institution in full compliance with the Paris Principles.
