The National Human Rights Council (CNDH) supervised training sessions on human rights and civic participation on Friday 28 July 2023, in all regions in Morocco.
These sessions aim at building the capacities of young people within the framework of the Volunteer program launched by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, which benefits 5,000 young women and men between 18 and 22 years old.
Through its contribution to this program, the CNDH seeks to encourage young people to support citizenship and human rights values and to enhance their role as an essential element in building a sustainable society and developing the spirit of initiative.
In its annual reports, the CNDH stressed the importance of the participation of young people in development areas, such as social protection, reducing spatial disparities, increasing young people’s political participation, and enabling them to contribute to managing local affairs through the available means and mechanisms.
In its reports, the CNDH recommended the establishment of the Advisory Council for Youth and Civil Society Work as a constitutional advisory body. It also called for broadening its mandate to have the capacity to submit recommendations to the competent authorities to improve the conditions of young people and collective action at the national, regional or local level.
This program is composed of training and volunteering stages. Young people will have the possibility to choose one of the volunteering fields, such as environment and sustainable development, solidarity and cooperation, heritage and culture, health, social entrepreneurship and sports, etc.
