The United States of the World Foundation and its Fondazione Mediterraneo presented today, January 10, 2025, at its headquarters in Naples, Italy, the prestigious “Mediterranean Award for Social Solidarity 2025” to Ms. Amina Bouayach, Chairperson of Morocco’s National Human Rights Council (CNDH).

The Mediterranean Award, internationally renowned, is supported by numerous international institutions. It symbolizes dialogue and cooperation among peoples and serves as a tribute to those who contribute to social cohesion and the defense of human rights. Ultimately, the Award seeks to encourage those who bring happiness to humanity, renewing their energy and fostering territorial and global development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Bouayach emphasized that this "recognition, while personally meaningful to me as a woman and an activist, is above all a tribute to my country, Morocco, for its unwavering commitment to the universal values of dignity, justice, and equality."

She highlighted that Morocco has established itself as a determined stakeholder, serving as a bridge between continents, cultures, and religions, while promoting an open and tolerant vision grounded in plurality and inclusion. She also noted that since 1999, Morocco has initiated bold and transformative reforms—constitutional, legislative, and institutional—aiming to implement universal human rights principles.

This process culminated in December 2024 with a historic milestone: the vote in favor of the universal moratorium on the death penalty, reflecting the Kingdom’s steadfast commitment to human dignity. This decision is part of a broader dynamic to strengthen fundamental freedoms and promote a more inclusive and equitable Moroccan society.
