The Regional Human Rights Commission (CRDH) of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Region hosted, on Tuesday morning, September 24, 2024, 60 students from the Moroccan Academy of Diplomatic Studies, including 12 trainee diplomats from sub-Saharan African countries and 4 from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad.
In this context, Ms. Maimouna Essayed, CRDH President, emphasized the role of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), its national mechanisms and regional CRDHs, in protecting and promoting human rights, ensuring their effective implementation into regional policies and programs.
She highlighted the CRDH’s initiatives addressing critical issues to the region such as migration and underlined the importance of women’s rights in the CRDH’s actions.
In addition, Ms. Essayed stressed the CRDH’s commitment to mobilizing local stakeholders, including local associations and journalists, through workshops and awareness-raising activities targeting student and educators.
She also addressed the CRDH’s efforts in preserving cultural heritage and its participation in cultural events such as the regional and international book fairs.
In response to students' questions, she shed light on how the CRDH handles complaints and monitors allegations of violations via social media and digital journalism.
