The Regional Human Rights Commission (CRDH) of the Fez-Meknes region, in partnership with the Regional Directorate of the Youth Sector, organized a series of interactive workshops aiming to promote human rights culture among 75 children in the region. These workshops were held at various summer camps, including Ras El Ma camp in Ifrane on July 31, 2024, the collective camp of Imouzzer Kandar on August 2, 2024, and the Bab Boudir camp in Taza on August 6, 2024.
These initiatives are part of the CRDH’s strategy related to the protection and promotion of human rights, which seeks to enhance respect for human rights and foster a culture of citizenship. The workshops focus on educating participants about human rights, citizenship values, and raising awareness among diverse stakeholders. This effort is aligned with the annual work program established under the cooperation and partnership agreement signed with the Regional Directorate of the Youth Sector on December 8, 2022. This agreement aims to encourage initiatives that promote human rights values, including tolerance, dialogue, and gender equality among children.
Summer camps provide an excellent platform for the CRDH to engage with a significant number of children and educational staff, facilitating the integration of a human rights approach into the educational activities offered in theses spaces. Given the importance of summer camps in national public policies- following the adoption of the "Holiday for All" program, which allows thousands of children, regardless of their gender, to participate in educational and recreational activities of summer camps- this initiative plays a crucial role in shaping a right-based environment for young participants.
The Fez-Meknes region has several camping centers, including the Ras El Ma Center, Ben Samim Center, Ain Kharzouza Center, Imouzzer Center, Ifrane Center, Beni Oualid Center in Taounate and Bab Boudir Center in Taz, among others.
