In line with the Law 76-15 relating to the reorganization of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) and Article 36 of its Rules of Procedure, the Regional Human Rights Commission (CRDH) of the Souss-Massa region held its eleventh ordinary meeting on Friday, July 5, 2024 in Agadir, Morocco.
The agenda featured updates on CRDH initiatives since the previous meeting, a presentation of outcomes of the last CNDH General Assembly, an action plan focused on childhood issues and the approval of a draft for a regional forum addressing childhood issues.
Mr. Mohamed Charef, CRDH President, highlighted key achievements since the last ordinary meeting, including a training session for health professionals on violence and human rights, a seminar on freedom of expression and journalism in the digital age, documentary screenings for young detainees at the Ait Melloul 2 prison during the Fidadoc Festival.
Mr. Charef also emphasized the CNDH regional embodiment through participation in the General Directorate of National Security’s open doors event from May 17 to 21, where a joint pavilion attracted thousands of visitors. Special visits were organized for children victims of the Tafenkoult earthquake and those in Agadir Protection Center. Moreover, two intellectual seminars were held on legal guarantees for individuals under custody and the role of scientific and technical police in the process of the Equity and Reconciliation Commission (IER). Children from both the Tata Regional Directorate and the Agadir Child Protection Center participated in the CNDH pavilion at the International Publishing and Book Fair in Rabat, Morocco.
Participants presented the outcomes of the CRDH’s activities since the last meeting. Members focused on discussing the CRDH’s action plan for childhood issues initiatives, and approved the draft for the regional forum.
