The Regional Human Rights Commission (CRDH) in the Guelmim-Oued Noun Region in partnership with the Association NounCreation for Culture and Arts organized a seminar on the role of art in promoting and strengthening human rights culture. The event took place on Friday, May 31, 2024, at the Guelmim Agricultural Chamber, Morocco.

Mr. Ibrahim El Ghazal, CRDH President, emphasized that the seminar aligns with the concerns and priorities of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), aiming to protect human rights through a participatory approach with various relevant stakeholders. He also underscored that the seminar seeks to shed light on the crucial relationship between art and human rights.

Mr. Limam Sefer, President of the NounCreation Association for Culture and Arts, highlighted the importance of arts in shaping imagination and building a balanced personality. He noted that art is a human right and a tool for preserving identity, particularly among the younger generations in the era of globalization. In this context, he noted that social media networks often negatively impact the transmission of values and the continuity of cultural identity.

Participants called for intensified efforts to strengthen the relationship between art and human rights and promote freedom of creativity in service of human rights causes. They recommended implementing educational clubs, providing opportunities for talented individuals, and enhancing the skills of club leaders through training and motivation. Additionally, they urged the need to involve parents and guardians of students in joint programs between the CRDH, association, and artistic development institutions to encourage a deeper understanding of the role of art in promoting human rights culture.

Institutional and civil society actors, specialists in art and human rights, as well as representatives of local media, participated in this workshop.

This event provided an opportunity to acknowledge the significant contributions of civil society, educational clubs, and those working in the field of arts in promoting human rights culture.
