As part of its ongoing commemoration of International Women's Rights Day (March 2025), the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) will host an interactive workshop on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, under the theme: “What Roles Do Businesses Play in Promoting Equality and Inclusion: Women's Initiatives and Career Paths.” The event will take place at the Rabat Institute – Idriss Benzekri for Human Rights, at 1:00 PM.
This initiative aligns with CNDH’s efforts to protect women’ and girls’ rights, promote gender equality, and combat all forms of gender-based discrimination, including in the labor market and Moroccan businesses.
Ms. Amina Bouayach, CNDH Chairperson, emphasized that businesses are not just economic actors; they can also be catalysts of social justice, platforms for women's empowerment, and drivers to dismantle gender stereotypes. She added that “adopting equitable and empowering policies within Moroccan businesses can enhance women's participation in the labor market, opening doors for greater contributions to development and decision-making.”
By mainstreaming human rights-based policies—particularly those focusing on women's rights—businesses can play a pivotal role in building a more fair and equitable society, the human rights leader stressed.
This event will bring together stakeholders from the public and private sectors, civil society, and public institutions to discuss and share insights on key topics such as developing policies and strategies to promote equality within businesses, advancing the inclusion of women in various sectors, and supporting their entrepreneurial initiatives.
Ms. Bouayach will deliver opening remarks.
Experts will discuss “The Role of Entrepreneurship in Inclusion and Equality” and “National Policies to Combat Workplace Discrimination and Harassment.”
Additionally, women entrepreneurs will share their success stories and journeys, highlighting inspiring business models that encourage women's initiatives in the economic sphere.
Continuous and Ongoing Commitment
The CNDH places gender equality and women's and girls' rights at the core of its strategic priorities and national, continental, and international advocacy.
This includes working to ensure the effective realization of equality and empowerment, eliminating all forms of gender-based violence and discrimination, combating child marriage under 18, and supporting women's participation in political, economic, and cultural life and decision-making.
In this context, the CNDH reiterates its call to all partners and stakeholders, including Moroccan businesses, to engage in national efforts to build a more fair, equitable, and equal society.
