Mr. Said Amzazi, Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Mrs. Amina Bouayach, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) signed an agreement to encourage initiatives aiming at promoting human rights reflexion in school and university milieu.

This event took place on Thursday 4 February 2021 at the Ministry's headquarters in Rabat, Morocco.

Mr. Driss Ouaouicha, Minister Delegate in charge of Higher Education and Scientific Research, general secretaries of the three departments at the ministry and the President of Mohammed V University in Rabat took part in this event.

This framework agreement aims to strengthen cooperation and partnership between universities and regional academies of education and training (AREFs), on the one hand, and the CNDH and its regional commissions, on the other hand. It also aims at promoting human rights culture  in the fields of school education, vocational training, higher education and scientific research. Besides, this agreement intends to promote equality culture education and combat discrimination, stereotypes and its negative representations.

In his statement, Mr. Said Amzazi said that this agreement is an explicit embodiment of a participatory approach aiming at strengthening human rights culture and reinforcing the sense of belonging to the country, citizenship, tolerance and decent living values for the learner. He also underlined that it is an embodiment of directives adopted by the ministry, in line with the Kingdom's Constitution and the UN recommendations, as well as the Royal orientations calling for placing human rights at the forefront of major determinants in people’s life.

For her part, Mrs. Amina Bouayach affirmed that the CNDH seeks that this agreement promotes human rights culture through the educational system in its pedagogical and cultural dimensions to be considered a norm for public action.
