To commemorate International African Women’s Day 2025, Pour Elle, an African media platform specializing in women’s and girls’ issues, announced its list of “50 Inspiring African Women” for the year. This initiative continues the platform’s tradition of honoring prominent African women who have made a significant impact on their communities and the continent.

This year, Ms. Amina Bouayach, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), was included among ten inspiring women activists, in recognition of her unwavering commitment to defending human rights, equality, and social justice.

According to the organizers, Ms. Bouayach was selected for her role in the human rights and social reform movement, both in Morocco and across Africa.

She has devoted her career to defending human dignity, fundamental freedoms, and social justice nationally, regionally, and internationally. Today, she is recognized as a prominent human rights voice in Africa and an active member of the Network of Leading African Women.

Ms. Bouayach joins women from 20 African countries and African communities abroad, highlighting the growing impact of women leaders in shaping a more just and inclusive future for the continent.

Under the theme “African Women Acting to Achieve Justice and Reparations for an Inclusive Africa,” this edition of 50 Inspiring African Women honors women leading change in politics, economics, business, activism, culture, art, and society.

It is noteworthy that the Pour Elle platform launched this initiative in 2019 to celebrate and recognize leading and inspiring African women, aiming to inspire young African women to embrace commitment, leadership, and activism. According to the organizers, this symbolic act contributes to strengthening the role of African women in societal transformations across the continent.
