The Regional Human Rights commission (CRDH) of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, in partnership with the Regional Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration in Tangier, Morocco, is organizing a training session on “Prisoners’ right to physical and psychological integrity”, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 in Tangier.
This training will benefit 25 employees from the region's prison facilities. It is part of the CRDH’s annual action plan to promote human rights culture. The initiative aims at raising awareness among law enforcement officers, in alignment with the objectives of the World Programme for Human Rights Education, etc.
The session seeks to deepen participants’ understanding of the fundamental principles and concepts contained in international human rights conventions, particularly those that protect the physical and psychological safety of prisoners. It is designed to ensure that individuals serving their sentences are treated in conditions that guarantee their dignity and humanity, while also addressing and preventing all forms of degrading and inhumane treatment that could hinder the successful reintegration of prisoners into society.
The training session will focus on conceptual presentations and practical workshops, facilitated by experts and staff from the National Human Rights Council (CNDH).
This training follows a previous session held in December 2023 in Tangier, which focused on the individualization of treatment for vulnerable groups within prisons and the effectiveness of human rights.
