In commemoration of International Children's Day, celebrated annually on November 20, the Regional Human Rights Commission (CRDH) of the Draa-Tafilalet region, in coordination with the Court of Appeal of Errachidia and the Regional Academy of Education and Training, will organize a seminar titled “The Child's Right to Identity: Legal and Practical Challenges in the Draa-Tafilalet Region.” The event will take place on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 9:30 am in Errachidia, Morocco.

The seminar, which is part of the CRDH 2024 action program, seeks to launch a dialogue on the child's right to identity. It aims to develop a comprehensive vision to protect this fundamental right, recognizing it as a cornerstone for enabling children to fully enjoy their constitutional and universal rights.

Participants will address several issues, including: The challenges faced by children of unknown parentage in asserting their identity and accessing their rights, The role of the Public Prosecution in ensuring the effectiveness of the right to identity, The judiciary’s role in ensuring the effectiveness of this right, Civil status registration and its implications for identity and education; etc.

The event will bring together a wide range of stakeholders, including representatives from governmental and non-governmental organizations, judges, lawyers, academics, university students, civil society and human rights defenders, experts, elected officials, and media professionals.
