As part of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) missions stipulated in Law No. 76-15, the CNDH Regional Commission in the Marrakech-Safi Region (CRDH) conducted several visits to the affected areas by the Al Haouz earthquake.

Besides examining the condition of educational institutions affected by the disaster, the CRDH also studied the procedures that would ensure regaining access to schools and thus the right to education for all students affected by the earthquake.

The CRDH also contacted the Regional Directorate of the General Delegation for Prison Administration in the Marrakech-Safi region to review the conditions of inmates in the regional prisons. Thus, the Regional Directorate reassured the CRDH that there were no losses of life or damaged facilities and that the administrations of prisons authorized all detainees, men and women, to contact their families.

The CRDH set up a phone number (+212524420587) to encourage reporting violations of children’s rights.
