On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, the Regional Human Rights Commission (CRDH) in the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region held a meeting with prisoners in Azilal, Morocco, focused on coexistence, acceptance of differences, and diversity.

Representative from the Ulema Council also participated in the meeting.

This event is part of the CRDH’s annual action plan, particularly its part addressing the protection and promotion of prisoners' rights.

Mr. Hicham Radi, CRDH Executive Director, emphasized the importance of the values of freedom, dignity, equality, and non-discrimination. He noted that these principles are fundamental to building a society that respects differences, embraces diversity, fosters coexistence and tolerance, and uphold rights and freedoms. He further highlighted that the prison system plays a crucial role in preparing prisoners for reintegration into society by ensuring respect for its laws and promoting human rights and citizenship values.
