At the 30th International Publishing and Book Fair (SIEL) in Rabat, Morocco, the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) is shedding light on culture and cultural expressions this year.

From April 18 to April 28, 2025, the Human Rights Pavilion will host 10 days of rich, inclusive programming- inviting experts, human rights defenders, academics, institutional and civil society representatives, and children to interact and share insights on culture and cultural expressions.

  • 205 children showcasing diverse cultural expressions from Morocco’s 12 regions
  • 100 writers, actors, and human rights defenders from Morocco and abroad
  • 70 interactive activities, including workshops and panels
  • 5 spaces dedicated to participation and expression

“Over these ten days,” states Ms. Amina Bouayach, CNDH Chairperson, “we are celebrating our rich and diverse Moroccan culture and its connection to the effectiveness of  human rights and development.”

Culture, she adds, is neither an elitist luxury nor merely a heritage to preserve in museums. “It goes beyond our collective memory. It is an everlasting dialogue between the past, the present, and the future…” she stresses. Cultural rights must be protected and promoted. Culture and cultural expressions—Arab-Islamic, Amazigh, Sahrawi-Hassani, Hebrew, Mediterranean, and African/Moroccan—can nurture social cohesion, pluralism, respect for diversity, etc. This cultural mosaic, undoubtedly, contributes to promoting respect for everyone’s rights, preservation of memory, and the right to identity and dignity.

The CNDH’s program is distributed across 5 daily spaces at the Pavilion A24:

  • Creative Mornings for Children
  • Literature and Human Rights
  • Artistic and Creative Expressions
  • Panel Discussions
  • Books and Publications

All hosted in a welcoming and inclusive pavilion.

You are all warmly welcome at the Human Rights Pavilion A24.
