The National Human Rights Council (CNDH,) represented by Mr. Abderrafie Hamdi, Director of Human Rights Protection, delivered an Oral Statement on 27 March 2023 at the 36th Session of the United Nations Committee on the Protection of the rights of all Migrant workers and Members of Their Families (CMW) on the occasion of the Informal meeting between the CMW and the National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs)/NGOs.
Within this context, the CNDH invited the CMW to integrate its recommendations, detailed in its report, into the concluding observations addressed to Morocco. These recommendations focus mainly on the following:
- Completing the conventional practice of Morocco, as indicated in the CNDH reports;
- Expediting the adoption of the two laws on migration and refugees, in line with the Constitution and the ratified international instruments;
- Considering the migration dimension during the implementation of the new development model, particularly the rights of migrant workers to health, education, social security, employment and political participation;
- Continuing respecting the principle of non-refoulement of asylum seekers;
- Taking appropriate measures to handle complaints related to migration issues referred to the government by the CNDH;
- Capitalizing on the achievements of regularization operations to overcome the challenges of documenting migrants and refugees;
- Strengthening international cooperation based on solidarity and sharing responsibilities within the framework of global governance that responds to the current challenges in terms of migration.
