Ms. Amina Bouayach, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), met with the President and members of the Association of Victims of Tazmamart on Wednesday morning, June 19, 2019, at the CNDH’s headquarters in Rabat, Morocco.
Members of the Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the Recommendations of the Equity and Reconciliation Commission participated in this meeting.
Within this context, the CNDH outlined its ongoing efforts to implement of the recommendations of the Equity and Reconciliation Commission (known under its French acronym IER) and reiterated its commitment to ensuring their following-up.
The CNDH also took note of a new proposal from the association for further study.
The discussion shed light on the advancement in the establishment of collective memory spaces, particularly regarding the Tazmamart detention center.
The CNDH reaffirmed its commitment to the continued actions of the Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the IER Recommendations, emphasizing its commitment to address the remaining recommendations.
