On the occasion of the meeting of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) Office, held in Doha, Qatar, on 27 and 28 November 2024, Ms. Amina Bouayach, GANHRI Vice President, underscored the crucial role of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) in protecting and promoting human rights in complex and challenging contexts.

In her opening statement, Ms. Bouayach attributed GANHRI’s success to its promotion of the exchange of best practices through constructive cooperation, its commitment to international human rights system, and its efforts regarding the accreditation processes of NHRIs.

She emphasized that despite the challenging global context, marked by escalating conflicts, climate change threats and Artificial Intelligence effects impacting fundamental rights, including the right to life, the resolve to uphold human rights remains unwavering. She called for sustained innovation, enhanced cooperation, and support for NHRIs to ensure fulfilling their fundamental missions.

The program of the Doha meeting includes 14 key points, addressing critical issues such as regional updates from Africa, America, Asia and Europe, GANHRI’s governance, updates of the Sub-Committee on Accreditation (SCA), etc.
