World Refugee Day: 1 family torn apart by war is too many

The CNDH and the UN Refugee Agency-Morocco (UNHCR) celebrated the World Refugee Day, collaborating to «1 family torn apart by war is too many» campaign which emphasizes the impact of war on families.

To commemorate this Day, the CNDH and the UNHCR held from 17 to 20 June an exhibition stall at Bab El Had square, downtown, Rabat, to raise awareness of Moroccans about the issues of refugees, to create a sense of empathy vis-à-vis these uprooted people and to shed light on the new Moroccan migration and asylum policy, initiated by King Mohammed VI in September 2013, following the recommendations of the CNDH’s report entitled “Foreigners and Human Rights in Morocco: For a Radically New Asylum and Migration Policy”.

The World Refugee Day is celebrated each June 20th. It was established by the United Nations (A/RES/55/76) “to honor the courage, strength and determination of women, men and children who are forced to flee their homes under threat of persecution, conflict and violence.” The United Nations and countless civic groups around the world celebrate this Day.
