CNDH takes part in Brasilia in meeting on right to health and healthcare systems

The National Human Rights Council (CNDH) will take part in the 3rd Latin American Meeting on the Right to Health and Healthcare Systems, to be held from 3 to 5 June 2013, in Brasilia (Brazil). The Council will be represented by Mr. Mustapha Naoui, Special Adviser to the President.

This third meeting is organized by the Supreme Court of Justice and the Ministry of Health of Brazil in cooperation with the World Bank Institute, the Pan-American Health Organization and the Inter-American Court on Human Rights.

Judges, Ministers of Health, scholars, medical doctors and civil society representatives will be gathering in Brasilia to deepen the analysis of the systemic and social causes of the judicialization process of the right to health in Latin America. They will discuss the design and implementation of specific policies and social actions that can improve the delivery of healthcare services and therefore contribute to the accomplishment of the right to health.

This meeting will be an opportunity for the Moroccan participating health professionals, policy makers and experts to exchange experiences with their counterparts in Latin America and to learn about the efforts made by Latin American countries to implement the right to health guaranteed under their respective constitutions.

In contribution to the implementation of the right to health in Morocco, CNDH conducted in 2010, in partnership with the United Nations Program for Development, a study on the right to development in Morocco that focused on four areas: employment, education, health and housing. CNDH also published a pioneering report in 2012 on mental health and human rights.
