Agenda: Debate on Human Rights in Laayoune

The Advisory Council on Human Rights (CCDH) organizes in October in Laayoune, south of Morocco, the first regional meeting on the status of human rights in the southern provinces.

In order to initiate a serene debate on the promotion and protection of human rights in the region, as well as on all relevant problems and with a view to drawing up a report on the status of human rights in the southern provinces, the CCDH will open in late October a regional public debate with different local and national stakeholders.

The meeting, which will be attended by several international organizations (Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, the United Nations Development Program, the Danish Center for Human Rights ...), revolves around three workshops:

- Human rights developments in the southern provinces;

- Civil and political rights: public freedoms, elections, democratic practices;

- Economic and social rights: current status and challenges;

- Cultural rights and diversity.

It is worth mentioning that the CCDH established last year a regional office in Laayoune.
