Guelmim: CNDH launches regional consultations with children to institutionalize the principle of participation

The National Human Rights Council (CNDH) will launch, on Friday 3 February 2023, at 9 a.m., in the Guelmim-Oued Noun Regional Council, Morocco, the Regional Consultation meetings with children in the view of institutionalizing the principle of participation. The CNDH Regional Commissions will organize these consultations throughout 2023.

Ms. Amina Bouayach, CNDH Chairperson, will launch these consultations. They aim to engage children in assessing the national system related to the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

This process will culminate in drafting an independent report, which will be presented to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child within the framework of the periodic report of Morocco.
January was devoted to preparing these regional consultation meetings with children, which will start in February, in Guelmim, Tanger, Fez, Marrakech, Agadir, Casablanca and Rabat, and continue in Errachidia, Beni Mellal, Oujda, Laayoune and Dakhla, Morocco.

CNDH Chairperson launched in November 2022 at Centre de Sauvegarde de l’Enfant Abdeslam Bennani, the national campaign I decide my fate on the sidelines of International Child Rights Day to institutionalize the principle of participation, which is one of the fundamental principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
